Metier Peoples is delighted to be supporting our key client in Edinburgh, a global PE backed organisation currently on an ambitious growth journey.  We are tasked with finding a Senior Finance Manager (Technical) to join the growing finance team. This newly created role is primarily responsible for the final production of the financial statements for the Group’s Trading and Holding companies and for being the key contact for the Group’s London Based Financial Reporting and Control team on technical accounting matters . The role is also responsible for people management of a small team and technical accounting support to the wider finance team.

Duties include the review of financial statements, supporting the external audit process, helping to drive the roll out and development of a new Statutory Reporting cloud platform, accounting contributor to Step plans for corporate transactions and some limited review of transactional finance items.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation and then review of statutory financial statements across the Group.

  • Engagement with external accounting partners to ensure all statutory filings are compliant within the regulations of all jurisdictions supported by the team.

  • Key  contact for Group Financial Reporting and Control team, working closely with them on relevant touchpoints between the teams.

  • Lead the Technical Accounting Team whilst ensuring compliance with all applicable group policies, laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Lead ongoing roll out and development of key Finance systems

  • Work closely with the Group Financial Reporting and Control team on the development and execution of Step Plans for corporate transactions (acquisitions, disposals, restructures etc).

  • Overview and review of key indirect tax submissions.

  • Central contact for Lease accounting and related documentation.

  • Provide effective management of the team including taking responsibility for the timely delivery of outputs, KPIs, line management, training, and development.

  • Oversight of group intercompany process.

  • Assist the other teams with technical guidance and training.

  • Contribute to ongoing enhancements to the control environment.

Skills / Qualifications

Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with experience in a senior finance roles.

Have extensive demonstrable experience in financial statement preparation and reporting in a complex group organisation.

Strong technical accounting background and knowledge (IFRS and UK GAAP), with the ability to challenge auditors if required.

Finance Systems understanding to ensure that applications are effective and efficient.

Great planning and organisational ability.

A keen eye for detail and analytical skills.

VAT and Corporate Tax understanding beneficial.

Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with individuals at all levels in the organisation.

Ability to prioritise workloads and work within a fast paced and changing environment.
