Métier Peoples is pleased have been retained by a global technology business, based in Edinburgh to recruit a Fractional CFO. We are seeking an experienced CFO, with some knowledge of the sector, or certainly of founder-lead businesses, who can commit to a minimum of six months, for two or three days a week, managing a small finance team.
The Job:
- Financial and risk management: Monitor financial performance, forecasts and risk factors and balance risk and reward for the business
- Cost control: Ensure that spending achieves value for money and is kept within budget and affordability constraints
- Investment process: Prepare and present requested materials to ensure that the company achieves its fundraising requirements
- Financial and governance controls: Ensure robust contracts, financial systems and processes are in place to deliver control and transparency
- Compliance: Ensure financial, employment and health and safety compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical financial practices
- Leadership: Lead and motivate the Finance Team
- Stakeholder management: Maintain required relationships with investors, financial institutions, external advisors and the Board
The Candidate
- Qualified Accountant
- Strong experience of data analysis and forecasting
- Experience of developing and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of customers, investors and funders
- Proven management and leadership experience, including managing experienced professionals
- An analytical mind, a strategic thinker, strategic planner and, a skilled negotiator
- Pragmatic problem solver
- Proficient in operating financial systems and financial reporting
- Strong understanding of UK taxation
- Ability to understand overseas tax systems and legal structures
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
- Cross cultural knowledge
- Ability to develop the necessary business plans and budgets
- Excellent IT skills, in particular CRM tools, Google G-Suite, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook and MS PowerPoint.
- Working understanding of Venture Capital markets
The ideal candidate will have experience in relevant roles within the technology industry on a global scale, experience of equity capital raising, working with AI technologies and Board experience (with evidence of having engaged and influenced Board decisions). You will be comfortable having robust conversations with colleagues and in delivering news that might disappoint.
