The company is undergoing change, evolving its strategy and market focus to play a leading role in the energy transition. There is also significant scope to grow the business in offshore and onshore wind, carbon capture, hydrogen, and nuclear. The business already operates in the mining sector and is seeking opportunities in other wider infrastructure sectors.
We are delighted to be engaged on the search for a Head of Group Treasury on behalf of this organisation. The main purpose of this role is to support the Executive Management team in delivering strategic growth. The capital and financing structure of the company is a major part of the company’s ongoing strategic management. Alongside the CFO, the Treasurer will be expected to play a leading role in defining, managing and optimising the capital structure of the Company.
The Job
The Treasurer will be a multi-dimensional, versatile and independent business leader, with key responsibilities:
- Strategic thought partner to the CFO and Group Finance Team and will engage with the Executive & Operations leadership on issues of Group-level performance and treasury related matters.
- Design, plan and set up a fit for purpose Treasury function in the Group.
- Ensure the organization’s integrity of Treasury operations through comprehensive financial and internal controls.
- Funding strategy: develop & implement a funding plan to support corporate strategy and optimise shareholder value. Partner with the CFO in developing the evidence and narrative which demonstrates the company’s value and opportunity to stakeholders.
- Cash & Liquidity: ensure timely, clear, consistent liquidity analysis and reporting to internal and external partners.
- Debt & Equity partners: Support the CEO & CFO in managing all external funding related stakeholders. Be the primary lead on all debt holders/lenders. Support the CEO & CFO in sourcing new potential funding partners
- Improving & optimising net cashflow: Support the Executive Team in managing and improving the net cash flow of the Group. Drive reviews and insights on weekly, monthly, annual and project net cashflows. Drive education, understanding and effective use of Treasury related KPI’s, i.e. Revenue to EBITDA fall through, cash conversion, net cashflow conversion to shareholders.
- Day-to-Day Treasury: Ensure best practice in all aspects of treasury management. Management of all day-to-day Head Office Treasury operations (cash management, facility drawdowns, intercompany funding, sale and purchase of foreign currency). Specific responsibility for treasury risk management (liquidity risk, counterparty risk, foreign exchange risk, interest rate risk). Provide expert advice to Group’s operating companies on Treasury and funding issues.
- Risk: Support the drive on continuous review of performance based on risk-adjusted returns, firm wide cost management and efficiency improvement.

- Quickly establish your own constructive, substance-based rapport with the CFO, Executive team, Finance teams, shareholders and lenders
- Familiarize yourself with the incumbent Finance team – including its strengths and opportunity areas. Successfully support the CFO to increase capability and capacity in the Finance team’s capabilities to ensure Finance can most effectively support the business needs
- Partner with Group Finance & Tax teams to drive enhanced effectiveness and efficiency (including leading specific Finance Transformation activities).
- Enhance treasury operational excellence through digital transformation to focus the Finance function on higher “value creation” activities.
