The Group Treasury & Corporate Finance Accountant role sits within a well-established treasury team of seven people and will report to the Head of Treasury, with an official line into the Group Treasurer and Director of Risk, as well as a dotted line into the Group Financial Controller.  The treasury team plays a critical part in a large finance department operating on a global scale.

The varied and global nature of the business adds a level of complexity to the treasury operations making for a fast paced and multi-faceted environment in which you will gain exposure to a wide range of complex treasury dealings, as well as the wider corporate finance function.

The Treasury Function:

The primary accountabilities of the Group Treasury function include ensuring the availability of funds in appropriate currencies to meet the Group’s day-to-day commitments, managing the Group’s investments and borrowings to minimise the cost of debt and protecting the Group from adverse movements in foreign exchange and interest rates.  It executes around £10bn of financial markets transactions each year in an environment secure from operational risk.  The Group Treasury & Corporate Finance Accountant will work closely with other members of Group Treasury, Group Finance, Group Tax and the business units to record and report Group Treasury’s transactions and to optimise the financing arrangements between subsidiaries in the Group.

Responsibilities of the Group Treasury & Corporate Finance Accountant:

  • Recording and reporting of Treasury activities.

  • Preparation of month-end management reporting data including transaction valuation and bank performance reports.

  • Reconciliation of bank charges and bank interest on Group Treasury bank accounts.

  • Accounting for Group Treasury’s financial market transactions and inter-company cash transactions.

  • Preparation of quarterly statutory disclosures for Group Treasury’s activities.

  • Forecasting the Group’s interest charge and reconciling forecasts with actual outcomes.

  • Promoting and executing operational improvement initiatives and performance measures in both Group Treasury and Group Finance.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Relevant experience in a corporate treasury, finance function or financial services.

  • Knowledge of electronic banking systems and payment processes.

  • Knowledge of treasury management systems.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
