Metier Peoples is excited to be working exclusively on the search for a Financial Accounting Manager on behalf of our client in Edinburgh, a global organisation currently on an ambitious growth journey.  The Financial Accounting Manager will have an autonomous role with responsibility for a key business unit.

 The Job:

You will be responsible for preparing consolidated monthly management accounts and flash reports for the business unit and leadership teams with appropriate commentary and forecasts, while working with other Managers to ensure the delivery of the service standards, KPIs and deadlines.

Your duties would include:

  • Month-end management accounts preparation

  • Review and posting of accruals & prepayments

  • Payroll, sales adjustments

  • Review, challenge & posting of finance manager journals

  • Upload of P&Ls, Working Capital and Aged Debtors information into the reporting system and ensuring reconciliation

  • Review month end reconciliations (incl Net Sales)

  • Inter-company accounting for group companies

  • Support the planning, budgeting and forecasting processes for European central functions

  • Capital projects approval tracking and expenditure reporting

  • Provide support to Finance Manager, Group Tax Manager & UK sites on VAT / statutory reporting as required

  • Provide monthly reporting and analysis to sector businesses as required

  • Provide KPI monitoring and reporting for the Reporting team

  • Support of internal / external audit processes & ensure an effective control environment

  • Ad hoc duties as and when required to support finance applications and initiatives

  The Candidate:

 

We are seeking an individual who has experience working within an industry setting, although they may have trained in the profession, has strong management accounting experience and excellent relationship management skills.  The successful candidate will be able to see the bigger picture, pre-empt the business requirements as it grows and have a willingness to be very hands on.

Requirements for the Role:

  • Degree or professional qualification in accounting beneficial, will consider candidates who are qualified by experience

  • Experience of working in a similar position

  • Good systems and accounting experience essential

  • Navision / Cognos experience desirable (although training will be provided)

  • European accounting experience desirable

  • Teamwork and effective communication within a team

  • Ability to challenge and question accounting treatments

  • Self-starter, works own initiative and proactive

  • Self-confident in their own ability and in their accounting knowledge

  • Attention to detail especially regarding VAT and GL transactions

  • Positive, can-do attitude
