Metier Peoples is working in partnership with a renewables business looking to appoint a Group Management Accountant into their team in Edinburgh. Ideally you will be a part or newly qualified accountant looking to make a move within the market and with a background in management accounting, financial accounting or looking to make your first move from the profession into industry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the preparation of group management accounts, variance analysis and updating forecasts in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Ensure that the operation of the function is compliant with the financial controls, policies, processes and standards as contained in the company’s manual and improvement of these to maintain a robust control environment.

  • Support the junior team members’ development and performance, promoting a high performing culture and best practice in all activities.

  • Assist with the development of the Finance Function in a growth environment.

  • Prepare intercompany recharge sales invoices and bank payments for approval in a timely manner

  • Review weekly bank reconciliations

  • Maintain the fixed asset register

  • Prepare VAT reconciliations and submissions to HMRC for group companies

  • Produce weekly and monthly cash-flow reports

  • Preparation of year end audit pack

  • Support in monitoring costs and spend against company budgets

  • Assisting with preparation of budgets and financial plans

  • Prepare regular analysis on WIP, deferred income and stock balances including sales invoicing, timesheet records and costs by department, service and project

Candidate requirements:

  • Part qualified or qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years experience

  • Strong data analysis skills

  • An ability to self-manage and focus on achieving results. This includes the ability to prioritise effectively and complete all tasks accurately within required timescales.

  • Well-developed analytical skills including an ability to critically appraise information and to find practical solutions to issues.

  • Excel to an intermediate level

  • Knowledge of VAT, FRS102 and tax legislation
