Metier Peoples is delighted to be working exclusively on the search for a Global Accounting Manager on behalf of our key client in Edinburgh, a global PE backed organisation currently on an ambitious growth journey. This is the last of FOUR newly created leadership roles, due to a huge level of growth, which continues. The Global Accounting Manager will have an autonomous role with responsibility for a key business unit and will line manage a small team of Accountants.
This role holds responsibility for providing accurate and timely company records by managing the accounting function for the business unit, as well as the timely production of high-quality consolidated financial statements.
The Job:
You will be responsible for preparing consolidated monthly management accounts and flash reports for the business unit and leadership teams with appropriate commentary and forecasts, while leading a team of Accountants, taking responsibility for the delivery of the service standards, KPIs and deadlines, training and development.
Your duties would include:

Prepare consolidated monthly management accounts and flash reports for the BU and leadership teams with appropriate commentary and forecasts

Lead the Business Unit Accounting Team (including remote satellite accounting functions) whilst ensuring compliance with all applicable group policies, laws, rules, and regulations

Provide effective management of the team including taking responsibility for the delivery of the service standards, KPIs and deadlines and line management, training and development

Preparation and review of period end financial statements

Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts and projections to effectively manage cash balances

Perform analytical reviews of the monthly operating results to ensure the reasonability and accuracy of reports, liaising with budget holders to understand variances

Provide monthly reporting, finance training and support to budget holders and other operational managers

To develop services both within the department and organisation wide, including delivering financial training to other staff and managers and working on projects as required

Assist in the preparation of annual budget and periodic forecasts

Engagement with external accounting partners to ensure all statutory filings are compliant within the regulations of all jurisdictions supported by the team

Engagement with external tax advisors to ensure tax compliance within different jurisdictions

Other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time

The Candidate:
We are seeking an individual who has experience working within an industry setting, has strong management accounting experience and excellent relationship management skills. The successful candidate will be able to see the bigger picture and take a mixed approach to the role, operating as both business partner and controller, while managing an experienced, stable team.
Requirements for the Role:

Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with experience in a senior finance role within industry, ideally in a large complex organisation.

Extensive experience preparing monthly management accounts and budget variance reporting.

Strong IT skills which include the ability to use accounting software and Excel to an advanced level.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Adaptability to operate in an exceptionally fast paced and ever changing environment

Experience supporting entities in other jurisdictions (ideally).
