The Organisation:
Metier Peoples have been retained by the R&A, to recruit a Treasury Manager.
Based in St Andrews, The R&A runs professional championships including The Open and the AIG Women’s Open, elite amateur events, international matches, as well as extensive golf development. The R&A, through R&A Rules Ltd, governs the sport worldwide, outside of the United States and Mexico, on behalf of over 36 million golfers in 144 countries and with the consent of 158 organisations from amateur and professional golf. The R&A is at the forefront in modernising the sport and making it more relevant to today’s society. Their purpose is to make golf more accessible, appealing, and inclusive and to ensure it is thriving 50 years from now.
In addition to running various championships, the R&A is also involved in several initiatives including their most recent campaign #FOREeveryone. This is a nationwide initiative aimed at encouraging more females to get involved in golf, whether new to the game or picking it back up. As part of the campaign The National Golf Associations and The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) across the United Kingdom and Ireland have created a range of inclusive programmes to help individuals start playing as well as finding local clubs and events.
The Job:
The Finance department plays a key role in supporting the purpose of the organisation. A newly created opportunity has arisen in the finance function of the R&A for an experienced Treasury Manager to provide support to the R&A Group and The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. This role reports into the Group Financial Controller and the successful candidate will work as part of a busy finance team providing high quality financial information, advice and support to various internal and external stakeholders. The main purpose of this role is to provide efficient and effective accounting and administrative support, managing the daily operations of the Treasury function. This is a new role in the business and provides an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of the financial
plans.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong skills in cash management, cash flow forecasting, FX management, as well as borrowings and debt facilities management. The Treasury Manager will be required to liaise with senior management across the organisation, providing treasury information and support.
It is important that the successful candidate can demonstrate solid technical skills, however they will also need to have the right personal attributes so that they can establish a role and a function within the organisation from a standing start. This requires a dynamic professional who can take the initiative to ascertain what needs to be done and where priorities lie. Stakeholder engagement skills are crucial, as are solid judgement and resilience.
Ideally, the Treasury Manager will have an accounting or Treasury qualification (CA / ACCA / ACA / CIMA / ACT or equivalent), however, experience is fundamental.
Responsibilities:

Monitoring and managing bank relationships and cash management relationships.

Daily cash management.

Preparation and monitoring of cash flow forecasts for all area of the organisation.

Working closely with the Group Financial Controller, the Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable teams to manage liquidity.

Managing foreign currency exposure across the organisation.

Managing the programme of forward currency contracts.

Assessing and managing the funding of capital projects.

Managing any borrowings and debt facilities.

Administration of bank accounts across the organisation including BACS.

Assisting with the process of approving supplier payments.

Assisting with the evaluation of new projects and business opportunities.

Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts under accounting standard FRS102 as they relate to treasury matters.

Working with the Group Financial Controller on accounting and disclosures for foreign exchange contracts under FRS102.

Liaising with senior management across the organisation.

Working closely with teams across the business in providing first class treasury information and support.

Preparation of financial reports for Board and Committee meetings.
Candidate Requirements:

Fully qualified accountant (CA/ACCA) or qualified Treasury professional (ACT) ideally.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a treasury function.

Understanding and experience of treasury accounting, including foreign exchange, liquidity and cash flow.

Strong technical accounting knowledge.

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
