Finance Manager

 Metier Peoples is delighted to be working with an exciting start up business, with significant backing to recruit a Finance Manager into their brand-new Edinburgh office.  This job presents an excellent opportunity for a qualified Accountant from either an accounting firm or industry to join a business at the early stages of their growth journey.

The Job:

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the financial control framework is applied consistently across the board, so that accurate management and statutory accounts are produced, and all other statutory / contractual obligations of a financial nature are discharged on a timely basis.  You would be required to oversee and manage the financial administration and financial reporting of multiple projects, ensuring that a methodical and logical approach is applied and tight deadlines are met.   The effective management of internal and external stakeholder relationships will be crucial to this job.  Duties will include:

  • Ensure financial control framework is applied adhere to the financial control framework.

  • Ensure that the accounting policy manual is implemented consistently.

  • Produce management accounts, budgets, and other forecasts to deadlines and in accordance with the accounting policy manual.

  • Ensure compliance with payment processes and approve payment runs.

  • Manage the lending covenant compliance process.

  • Drive efficiencies in how the finance team performs its tasks.

  • Financial modelling:  Update the operating model in accordance with the Company’s procedures and circulate these models to Directors and Lenders, ensuring contractual processes and timetables are adhered to.

  • Statutory Reporting:  Prepare statutory accounts and support year-end audit files.

  • Taxation:  Manage all taxation compliance processes liaise with external advisors as necessary, ensuring that returns and payments are properly scheduled and processed.

  • Treasury:  Ensure effective and compliant treasury and working capital management.

  • Understand legal contracts for financial and commercial matters and ensure that contractual terms are applied.

  • Ensure contractual reporting requirements and financial deliverables are met.

  • Ensure that the financial aspects of project variations are managed effectively.

The Candidate:

  • Qualified Accountant

  • Comfortable working with minimal supervision and confident taking ownership

  • Advanced user of Excel
