Metier Peoples is delighted to be partnering with an exciting business to search for a newly created Financial Controller position to be based in the Central Belt of Scotland.
This position will be an integral part of the finance team, working closely with the CFO. Key Responsibilities:

Overseeing the day-to-day activities of the company’s finance function ensuring that it is efficient, well organised and produces timely and accurate financial and management information and accounts

Financial planning, budgeting, variance analysis, performance reports and business analysis reporting

Preparing and presenting monthly management accounts and reports to the senior management team

Responsibility for month-end and year-end accounting close process

Taking a lead role in helping to achieve cost control, budgetary accountability and responsibility across the business and contributing actively and proactively to decisions regarding financial strategy

Preparing regular financial and other business reports; analysing and interpreting results and conducting reviews with the CFO and other members of the senior management team (to establish reasons for variances and determining action plans for future developments)

Developing controls, processes and procedures, ensuring a robust accounting system is in place as the business continues to grow

Leading and/or supporting any accounting system implementations and upgrades

Overseeing all tax and compliance requirements

Line management responsibilities with a strong focus on team development and training
The Financial Controller position requires a professionally qualified accountant who possesses excellent technical and management accounting skills, strong systems knowledge, and previous team management experience. It is likely that you will have trained in a professional services firm but have also operated within a high growth, fast paced commercial organisation.

High calibre individual with a demonstrable track record of high performance

Fully qualified accountant with appropriate post-qualification experience, preferably with a minimum of 5 years PQE and experience working in a similar role and environment

Sound knowledge and experience of management and financial/statutory accounting

Experience of implementing robust financial controls, processes and procedures

Strong commercial acumen

Ability to develop high quality management information to support decision making

Excellent team management

System implementation and development experience is desirable

Self-starter, willing to be involved in the detail, whilst having sufficient gravitas to support and challenge senior stakeholders
